PENERAPAN TEKNIK COPY THE MASTER DALAM MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS EKSPLANASI SISWA KELAS XI SMA NEGERI 3 BOGOR

Abstract

ABSTRAK

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 3 Bogor melalui penerapan tekini copy the master serta mengetahui kendala yang dialami oleh siswa dalam menulis teks eksplanasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes, angket, dan observasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 3 Bogor. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas XI MIPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Hipotesis pertama yaitu penerapan teknik copy the master dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi dapat teruji kebenarannya. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan diperolehnya data prates kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai rata-rata kelas 63 dapat diketahui kemampuan siswa cukup mampu dalam menulis teks eksplanasi, sedangkan hasil postes rata-rata nilai kelas eksperimen dalam menulis teks eksplanasi meningkat menjadi 88 dengan taraf kemampuan sangat mampu. Hasil perbandingan mean kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan rumus uji t, diperoleh data harga t₀= 3,57dan d.b.= 60 dengan t taraf dituliskan menjadi 1,67 < 3,57 > 2,39. Hal tersebut menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada kelas eksperimen. Hipotesis kedua, yaitu siswa mengalami kendala dalam menulis teks eksplanasi terbukti kebenarannya. Hasil angket menyatakan bahwa siswa mengalami kendala dalam menulis teks eksplanasi. Kendala yang dialami yaitu saat membuat simpulan sebanyak 19 atau 50%, kendala saat memilih diksi struktur sebanyak 24 atau 63 %. Dengan demikian, penerapan teknik copy  the master dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi walaupun terdapat kendala selama proses pembelajaran. Meskipun, tidak berpengaruh besar terhadap peningkatan yang dicapai oleh siswa.

THE USE OF COPY THE MASTER TECHNIQUE IN IMPROVING THE STUDENTS’ ABILITY TO WRITE EXPLANATION TEXT IN ELEVENTH GRADER OF SMA NEGERI 3 BOGOR

The aims of this research are to investigate the second-grade students’ ability of SMA Negeri 3 Bogor to write explanation text through the use of copy the master technique and to find out the students’ difficulties in writing explanation text. Experimental method is used in conducting this research. The techniques of collecting the data are test, observation, and questionnaire. The population of this research is the second-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Bogor. The samples that are used is this research are XI MIPA 1 as control group and XI MIPA 2 as experimental group by applying cluster random sampling. The first hypothesis is the use of copy the master technique can improve students’ ability to write explanation text can be proved. It is confirmed by the class’ average score in pre-test experimental group that achieve 63 which shows that the students are sufficient to write explanation text. Meanwhile, the average score of post-test experimental group becomes 85 which means the students are able to write explanation text. The result of the mean comparison between experimental and control group by using T-Test formula is t₀ = 3,57 and db = 60 with t_t significant level 1% that is 1.67 and t_t significant level 5% is 2.39 so, it can be written in 1,67 < 3,57 > 2,39. It shows there is significant improvement in experimental group. The second hypothesis is the difficulties that are faced by students in writing explanation text are accepted. Based on the questionnaire, it is stated. 50 students or 50% have difficulties in writing conclusion. Moreover, it is stated 24 students or 63% have difficulties in choosing the structure of diction. Therefore, the use of copy the master technique can improve students’ ability to write explanation text although there is problem during learning process. However, it does not affect toward the improvement that is achieved by students.
