IMPROVING STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING IN LEARNING PREPOSITION THROUGH STUDENTS TEAMS ACHIEVEMENT DIVISIONS

Abstract


Introducing grammar especially preposition to the first grade of junior high school can be done through Student Team Achievement Division technique. The aim of the research is to improve the students’ understanding in learning preposition through STAD. The students of class VII C at SMPN 1 Nanggung is as the research subject. The writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles process. In each cycle she conducted three sessions. The data are gathered from observation notes and questionnaire. The data were collected from the students’ score pre-CAR is 58.7 showed that most of the students’ score were lower than the standard score average. The first cycle score averageis 65.9, it shows good improvement because she found some changes by comparing of the scores pre-CAR and the result of the first cycle test. However, it did not achieve the standard score average. The second cycle score average is 79.6, she did the some steps but she gave more interesting apperception and different preposition exercises form. The data shows that the students can get the standard score average in the second cycle.
