THE COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN CROSS CRAWL AND THINKING CAPS BRAIN GYM ON STUDENTS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION

Abstract


Listening for students of Junior High School still becomes a problem especially listening to English language. Cross Crawl and Thinking Caps Brain Gym are chosen to help the students improve their listening comprehension, especially understanding the material they listen. The purpose of the research entitled,“Comparative Study between Cross Crawl an Thinking Caps Brain Gym on Students’ Listening Comprehension” is to identify whether there is a difference between Cross Crawl and Thinking Caps Brain Gym on students’ listening comprehension. The methodology used in this research is Causal Comparative method and the design used is Factorial design. The population of the research is the first grade students of SMPN 2 Sagaranten Kabupaten Sukabumi. There are three classes which are divided into two experimental groups ( taught by Cross Crawl and Thinking Caps brain gym ) and control group ( taught by Whispering Game ). Based on the calculation, it is found that t-calculated scores are 0.04 and 0.29. To test the hypothesis, level of significance from t-table is used. After checking the value of t-table, in df 52 and level of significance of 0.05 is 1.67. The null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted because t-calculated < t-table. It can be concluded that there is no difference between Cross Crawl and Thinking Caps brain gym on students’ listening comprehension.
