IMPROVING STUDENTS ABILITY IN WRITING PROCEDURE TEXT THROUGH ROUND TABLE TECHNIQUE

Abstract


In conducting this research, Round Table technique is chosen to improve students’ ability in writing procedure text. The participants of this research are the tenth grade students of SMK Ti Al-Asiyah consisting of 40 students. The data were collected from July 22nd until September 7th, 2013. The method of this research is classroom action research (CAR) which consists of two cycle processes and each cycle consists of three treatments. In the pre-test 18 students (45%) belong to fair criteria, fifteen students (37.5%) belong to poor criteria, six students (15%) belong to good criteria and only one student (2.5%) belong to very good criteria. After the treatments, the result of the first cycle shows three students (7.5%) belong to fair criteria, fifteen students (37.5%) belong to good criteria, twelve students (50%) belong to very good criteria, and two students (5%) belong to excellent criteria, with average 79.95. Yet, some of them cannot reach the standard score, (73). The second cycle the result shows that ten students (25%) belong to good criteria, 30 students (75%) belong to very good criteria, with average score 81.8. All of the students passed the standard score. The result indicates that Round Table technique can improve students’ ability in writing procedure text.
